On April 27th Russian-Japanese Business Council together with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) gave the reception on the occasion of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visiting Russia. More than 100 high-ranking public officials and business representatives of both countries attended the reception.
Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan responsible for economic cooperation with Russia, Arkady Dvorkovich, Vice-Prime Minister of Russia, Maksim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development of Russia and more than 50 top managers of Russian and Japanese major companies attended the reception.
Russian and Japanese business representatives signed more than 20 agreements, including final documents for the Russia-Japan Investment Fund established by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). The participants discussed the development of economic cooperation between Russia and Japan and a set of promising projects.
Alexey Repik, President of the Russian public organization “Business Russia” and Chairman of Russian-Japanese Business Council said: “Today Russia and Japan are focusing their efforts on new model of mutually beneficial cooperation and on establishing new guidelines of economic engagement. Few years ago it was almost impossible to imagine our business communities thinking about common investment projects in such areas as IT, pharmaceutic, agriculture, urban development, advanced manufacturing technologies, etc.”
“The reception on the occasion of Prime Minister Abe’s visit proved that Japanese business circles are interested in the Russian market and demonstated their determination to maintain close and efficient business ties with the Russian companies, which can be realized on different levels and in broad variety of areas”, said Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the RDIF.
